DESCRIPTION AND HISTORICAL INTRODUCTION

English carriage with the possibility of hooking on limonera or trunk with origin circa the nineteenth century which was given many types of utilities.

Normally, both the two or four-wheeled models sit their occupants back to back, with the feet of the occupants who are looking back, resting on a folding cover when they go hunting or walk through the field with the dogs. But in some models, such as in the carriage of which we speak in our project, the back seat can be changed the backrest and thus allow the seated occupants to look forward in the same direction of the march in a clear mode of walk.

STATE OF CONSERVATION AND DIAGNOSIS

After the due studies of historical research together with the physical methods of image examination that allowed us to reach the conclusion that the piece was in an unfortunate state of conservation with faults in the preparation layer of the wood, important deformations and oxidations in the structure and a patent textile deterioration of seats and backs. All wood parts were affected by xylophagous insects with a high number of cracks in wheels and davit that comprecomin the integrity of the piece.

RESTORATION PROJECT

The process has begun with the transfer of the carriage to the workshops of conservation-restoration of Carruajes Romero, where, after a first ocular inspection, a detailed study has been carried out, including analysis of samples and photographic reproduction using techniques of natural, vertical and ultraviolet light, comparing with the corresponding historical and technical study.

Within the different works developed and after the corresponding cleaning, disinsection and consolidation of the wood, we highlight the reintegration and treatment of cracks and the cleaning and treatment of the areas oxidized by sandblasting with a specific treatment of the davit, renewing all the upholstery and buttoned with pony skin. The restoration as usual to include lanterns and the manufacture of lances.

Finally, it has been painted in yellow with black fillet with the usual lacquer and final protection.
