This restoration has been made in Carruajes Romero by handmade processes in 2020. This carriage was created by Pelletier Jeune in the 19th century in Saone (France). Pelletier Jeune is very famous in this area for the quality of its projects.
Description and historical introduction
Its French creators called this piece as Roof Seat Break because all seats are positioned at the same height as the driver’s seat. It is a product designed for hunting. It has got a compartment where some dogs could be transported. This compartment has got air vents on the sides as you can see in this picture.
This kind of carriage is equipped with different accessories. For example, it has got two baskets where it is possible to keep an umbrella or a walking-stick.
Conservation status and diagnosis
In these projects, it has been necessary a good historical analysis to know the conservation status of the material. In addition, it is important to establish the variations and pathologies, so the result will be better.
Restoration project
There are three fundamental principles of a restoration: stability, reversibility and discernibility. We always respect them.
We offer an action plan which respects the original conservation of the material and the authenticity of this piece. It is very important to recover the functionality of the vehicle and to make minimum changes in relation with the material and chromatic reinstatement.
When the restoration is completed, our customers receive a final report which includes some photographs (before – after), a technical datasheet and a recommended conservation plan.
